Laminate Floors the future

Cheap Laminate Floors not always the best option

Living in South Wales Swansea I have been in the flooring Industry for over 20 Years buying selling and advising people on suitable Wooden and Laminate Floors advising customers on a laminate or wood floor to suit their specific needs.

So what is my opinion.

My opinion is this “ I am going to take my profit making head off for a second and discuss the practicalities of Laminate Flooring”.

The main factor with Laminate Floors is “ You get What you pay For “.

We have all heard the horror stories whereby the floors wont fit together or they are chipping on the joins. The fact is this that shouldn’t happen if it does then the Laminate floor is not fit for purpose. However your newly purchased Laminate Floor must be fitted properly.

  • Must be fitted on a Dry Sub Floor.
  • Must be fitted on an Even Sub Floor.
  • Must be fitted on a Solid Sub-floor.

If all of these sub-floor conditions are met and you buy a good quality Laminate floor then you will get as good if not better wear than any other floor on the market.

My opinion as someone who is time served in the Flooring Trade

  • A decent laminate Floor looks almost as good as a solid Wooden Floor.
  • A Laminate floor is easy to maintain.
  • A Laminate Floor Is less likely to mark & Scratch.
  • A Laminate floor comes in wide range of colours and finishes.
  • A laminate floor will withstand more moisture and is less likely to expand and contract.

Overall you can never get a laminate floor to look quite as good or authentic as real wood engineered or solid wood. However with advances in technology they are 90% there.
