When it comes to choosing a decking system that is suitable for Decking or skirting your Caravan it might appear that options available for purchase are actually quite Limited.

So How do you get a good deal on your Caravan Decking. There are usually 4 options available when choosing your Deck -

The above option basically means that you are only able to purchase caravan decking from the sites approved installer. This option is fine as long as the site owners are not taking a large cut on the financial charge made for the decking as this will increase the cost to the end user considerably.
On the other hand it quite often ensures that the decking will be fitted trouble free as the Fitters rely on the business and ensure that a good job of fitting is made.
- The Caravan sites will employ subcontractors or installation companies to fit Caravan Decking on their behalf.
Again as with option one the Caravan Park will specify an approved sub contractor and that is the only option that they give you. This is a good option as it generally means that the Caravan Park owners aren’t taking a financial cut of the Price and you will get a good good job carried out by the Qualified approved installer. Using this method you will usually pay the Installer at the end of the job when you are happy that the Caravan Verandah or Deck has been installed correctly.
- The site will allow the Customers to purchase their own Caravan decking or verandah as long as it is installed by a qualified installer.
This is a good option and is usually one of the cheaper ways of installing your Caravan Decking. However It does leave you open to the Caravan site owner being able to condemn the deck if they deem it to be unfit for purpose or unsafe however it is very unlikely for this to happen as it has been fitted by an approved Caravan Decking installer. Using this option also ensures that you are able to source the materials yourself.
- The site owner will allow you to source your own fitter or fit your Caravan Decking yourself. This is usually the cheapest option as you are able to source the materials yourself and fit the decking yourself.
In my opinion this is not the best option as it can quite often lead to unsafe decking being fitted. The Caravan Decking systems generally need to be installed by a professional tradesman due to the nature of the components.
Overall my opinion of fitting Caravan Decking and how to get the best deal
Use options two or three if they are available to you, this will ensure that your decking is installed in a timely orderly fashion and also most importantly to a safe standard.
